Got a Mouse in your House?

Remember growing up and watching the Tom and Jerry cartoon? As silly as this cartoon was, it is also surprisingly accurate. Mice are actually very intelligent rodents, which can make them tricky to find and catch.

Mice are a bit like little acrobats, they have amazing climbing skills and can make themselves fit through almost any nook and cranny (as small as a pencil’s width—1/4 in.). In fact, most people might not even realize that they have a mouse, or mice living in their house. Here are some signs you may have a mouse living in your home:

  • Boxes have clean holes in the corners.
  • Little rod shaped droppings in your home or garage.
  • Finely shredded paper our fibrous material clumped together (mouse nest).
  • Musky odor.

Mice carry diseases which are easily transmitted through food contamination. If you notice any of these signs, act quickly. If you think you have a single mouse living in your house, put some traps out. As we noted earlier, mice are quite intelligent, start out by putting some chocolate or peanut butter on the traps but not setting them. After a day or two, after they become accustomed to the food source, set the trap. If you are unable to catch your mouse, or if you have a larger mouse problem, please call Extermatrim Exterminating 800-620-PEST, or visit the Extermatrim Exterminating website.
